5 Ways your Realtor should be Marketing your Home

When you put your home on the market, there is one thing going through your mind: selling it as quickly as possible for as much money as possible. While this may be your goal, whether or not you accomplish it is another thing entirely.

Most people understand the benefits of hiring a realtor. This person will work on your behalf, doing whatever they can to sell your home quickly and for a big profit.

With so many realtors in a given area, you are never going to be lost when it comes to finding a person who can help. When making a decision, you should put a lot of stock into which realtor has the best marketing plan for your property.

Here are five ways your realtor should market your home:

1. Through their network. A well connected realtor is one who can share information on your home with many other agents, all of which who have clients of their own. The more connected a realtor is the better chance you have of a quick sale.

2. Sign in your yard. Although this may sound like an “old school” marketing tactic, it is one you need to consider. With a sign in your yard, anybody who drives by will realize that your home is for sale. On top of this, your neighbors will realize the same. These people may know somebody who is looking to move into the area, thus letting them know about your property.

3. Open house. This may not be something your realtor turns to right away, but at some point he or she may consider the idea. With an open house, anybody can visit your property without scheduling an appointment. This type of “low pressure” environment can go a long way in generating interest, which could lead to an offer in the future.

4. The internet. From your realtor’s personal website to their company’s website, it is a must that your home is marketed online. This may not have been important 10+ years ago, but things have really changed. More buyers today than ever before are searching for real estate online. Make sure a realtor is internet savvy before you bring him or her on board.

5. Postcards. It may be 2014, but this does not mean that direct mail marketing is dead. People still enjoy getting mail, and sending postcards is a great way to spread the word about your home. This is going to cost the realtor some money, but in the long run it can definitely payoff.

Before you hire a realtor to sell your home, ask for a clear idea of what they will do to market the property. From there, you will have an easier time deciding which professional is right for you.
